I graduated from nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Marshfield, Wisconsin. I worked as a critical care nurse for 5 years. I was accepted into the Nurse Anesthesia Program at St. Francis School of Nurse Anesthesia, graduating in 1978. After passing my national certifying boards that year, I started practicing as a Certified Registered Nurse Snesthetist (CRNA) in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I continued my education at U.W. Green Bay, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a Minor in Business in 1985. I have worked as a CRNA in a variety of work settings that include a Level 2 Trauma Center, community hospitals in Northeast Wisconsin, surgical centers, and physician owned outpatient/office settings. Along with my WI nursing license, I am also licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) in WI. I am a member of CRNA Associates, which is a group of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA's), which contracts with numerous outpatient facilities and physician offices in Northeast Wisconsin. We provide general, regional and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) type of anesthesia services for general, plastic, cosmetic, ophthalmic and orthopedic specialties. I am certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS). I have been an active practicing member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA, www.aana.com) since 1978 as well as an active member of the Wisconsin Association of Nurse Anesthetists (WIANA, www.wiana.com) where I have served as President, member of the Board of Directors and multiple committee chair assignments. In 2007, I was appointed by Governor Jim Doyle to the WI Board of Nursing (BON), to fill an existing term and then in July, 2008, I was re-appointed to a 4-year term. |
